FAQ

Good questions.

Where can I watch what you recommend?

Each film has a “Find where to watch” link that opens a search for it. Flick doesn’t show streaming availability itself because it changes constantly and we don’t yet have a verified live source — we’d rather send you to one than guess.

Why no star ratings or match percentages?

We don’t have a trustworthy ratings source, and a made-up “94% match” is exactly the kind of false precision Flick exists to avoid. Instead you get the concrete reasons a film fits.

Is this powered by AI?

Partly. AI can read your sentence and turn it into filters (when configured). The actual ranking is a deterministic, testable scoring engine over a verified catalog. AI never chooses or describes films.

What’s in the 1,888-film catalog?

85 hand-checked films with editorial moods and content notes, plus notable feature films from 1980–2026 by genre, with facts from Wikidata and descriptions from Wikipedia. Moods for those are derived from genre and labelled as such; their content isn’t assessed, so content limits never use them.

What are the content notes?

A 0–3 editorial scale for violence, sexual content, scares and emotional weight. They’re not official ratings — they exist so “nothing too gory” can be honoured.

Do I need an account?

No. Your taste profile lives in your browser. The trade-off: it doesn’t follow you across devices yet, but you can export and re-import it.
